Real estate in Koh Lanta, Thailand: A nature-filled private peninsula near Krabi is up for sale
Spread across six acres, the land for sale, which has direct access to two world-class beaches, is perfect for the development of a five-star boutique resort with a luxury villa component.
If you’re looking to invest in a beachfront property in Thailand, you’re in luck. Real estate firm Coldwell Banker has a stunning private peninsula on Koh Lanta up for sale, and it’s a perfect piece of land for resort living in the tropics.
Surrounded by nature, the lush peninsula is a five-minute drive away from Koh Lanta’s biggest five-star property, Pimalai Resort & Spa. It boasts direct access to two beaches, including the Ao Nui Beach – which was voted the island’s top beach by Lonely Planet. Measuring approximately 15 Rai (24,000 sqm or six acres), the asking price for the plot of land is THB 225 million.
In case you’re new to Koh Lanta, the beautiful, unspoiled island is located off the Andaman Coast of Southern Thailand in the Krabi Province, and stretches over 30km from North to South. Nearest airports are Krabi, Trang, and Phuket, with daily international flights to Krabi from Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Kuala Lumpur, Chiang Mai and Doha (via Qatar Airways), plus Sweden, Denmark and Finland during peak season. Expansion of Krabi International Airport is also in the works, which will result in increased passenger capacity to 5 million by 2020.
But getting to Lanta from the nearest airports isn’t quite as straightforward: you’ll need to take a car to a pier and take a ferry. On the island, you may need to take another ferry or car to your destination. While it’s not as easy to get to than other, more commercial, Thai islands (for now), Lanta’s gorgeous white sandy beaches, coral reefs, splendid natural landscape more than make up for the trek. Moreover, there are plans in place to make the island even more accessible in the near future, including the building of a new bridge that will connect the Lanta islands to the Krabi mainlands, with expected completion by 2023.
Accessibility and amenities within Koh Lanta is also improving. A new bridge connecting Koh Lanta with Koh Lanta Noi has recently been completed and is significantly reducing journey time. A four-lane road is currently being built between this new bridge and the Old Town. Government-built water supply is also available and there is access to electricity grid and fiber optic cables.
