Whale-shaped bar in Maldives Won the International Design Awards
Award-winning Design Group, WOW Architects l Warner Wong, managed the design aspect of The Whale Bar for St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort that resembles the distinct shape of a giant whale shark
Recently, The Whale Bar for St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, designed by Singapore and London-based design group, WOW Architects l Warner Wong Design Group, has bagged home the International Design Award for having the most beautifully designed space.
Some of the world’s best-known hotel chains, retail and automotive brands came together to compete in the SBID International Design Awards 2017, and The Whale Bar managed to outperform.
WOW Architects l Warner Wong Design Group managed the design aspect and constructed the existing architecture to resemble the distinct shape of a giant whale shark
The designer’s aim was to create an open-space layout and portray a cosy yet relaxed atmosphere where guests can look out to the sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, while sipping on cocktails.
Adding to the interior touch are plentiful use of light-oak materials to soften the feel of the ambiance and very soft neutral palette are used to complement the natural light and design relevance throughout the venue.
In addition, The Maldivian art are set against the interior to blend in harmoniously with the joinery works within. The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is one of the most luxurious resorts located in Maldives, designed to look modern-chic and bring exquisite escapades to guests.
Other winners of the SBID International Design Awards 2017, include the Wanda Reign Chengdu Hotel in China in the category of Hotel Public Space Design, and the Barcelona restaurant Alkimia. And The Penny Drop in Melbourne won The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards for being the most beautiful restaurant of 2017.
