Samujana, Koh Samui, Thailand

Perched on a hill top and located within walking distance from beaches of Choeng Mon and popular Chaweng, the all-pool award-winning estate overlooks a coral cove, giving each villa uninterrupted sea views and private beach access. The white-washed, sprawling and minimalist design is the work of celebrated architect Gary Fell of GFAB Architects, conceptualised with the natural rock outcrops and vegetation in mind. Lashini House — Tangalle, Sri Lanka

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Indian Ocean, Lashini House is a seamless junction of architecture and nature, designed to maximise interaction between indoor and outdoor. The eco villa incorporates the landscape as an integral design element, featuring an open-sided living room and courtyards that allow airflow and natural ventilation for all three bedrooms. The villa is sheltered by a green-planted roof plane that blurs the distinction between house and landscape when viewed from above.

Asimont Villas — Singapore

Made up of 21 villas in one of Singapore’s prime districts, the Asimont Villas is separated into seven different clusters. The three-story villas boast four bedrooms and a private pool all of which are designed to come together to look like “floating boxes”. Bringing in a bit of nature into the space, are ingeniously placed apertures that allow for daylight to come filtering in.

The Layar — Seminyak, Bali

Meaning “sail” in Bahasa Indonesia, it’s easy to see where The Layar gets its name. The resort offers a collection of pool villas with iconic roofs that taper dramatically to the ground, like the rigging of a traditional sail boat. This unique design creates spacious split-level living spaces with curved or angled walls, finished with contemporary interiors of tropical hardwoods and locally-sourced stone and marble.
