The Spanish island lies at the heart of LOEWE’s latest musical collaboration.

The love affair between Loewe and the Balearic island continues with a special new summer anthem: “Close to Paradise”. Written and produced by Belgian DJ duo Soulwax, the seven-minute track’s steady pulse is woven with stories and perspectives of Ibiza by four native islanders, creating a beautiful portrait of the island.

To be released on vinyl with album artwork by Ill-Studio, “Close to Paradise” is a part of the the Spanish leather house’s editorial tribute to the White Island. “Ibiza: Close to Paradise” is a digital publication that spans 12 chapters of specially sourced vintage photography that explores 12 key landmarks of Ibiza, as well as a broad range of personalities and artists — from go-go dancer Anna Maria “Noche y Dia” to celebrated hotelier Tony Pixie — who have shaped the island in their own ways.

Loewe’s special ties with Ibiza stem from creative director Jonathan Anderson’s fascination with the Spanish island as a boy, which has gone on to spawn several of the brand’s creative endeavours. Earlier this year, Loewe collaborated with cult-favourite Paula’s Ibiza Boutique for a capsule collection featuring archived prints from the latter, while Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2018 campaign was set against the surreal, sunny landscapes of Ibiza’s coast.

Besides fashion and music, Loewe’s relationship with Ibiza is also expressed in the world of art. The Spanish leather house is currently holding its third annual pop-up shop in Ibiza’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MACE) for the summer. Selected pieces from Loewe’s Paula’s Ibiza collection will be on display in all their vibrant-hued and uniquely-printed glory. Coinciding with this, MACE will also host exhibitions for Paula’s Ibiza Boutique’s vintage pieces from the 1980s, as well as the Guerlain collection — proudly sponsored by Loewe as a testament to the label’s commitment to the arts.
